Manson Boss Anchor release onto the market
Manson Anchors launched the Manson Boss Anchor at METS 2011. The Manson Boss anchor is the most technically advanced and safest anchor to hit the recreational boating market. It boasts even faster setting and even higher holding power.

The Manson Boss was specifically designed to suit power boats in the 20'-100'ft range and boasts an average of 20-25% more holding power than other next generation anchors.

As the Boss only has one long slot in it, a key feature is the new patented Shackle Preventor. The Preventor changes the slot from a general short slot usage into a sliding slot to assist retrieval in foul seabeds. The Preventor is very quick and easy to operate and remains on the shank all the time.

The anchor's shank has also been FEA optimised for strength and efficient weight distribution. It is also made from the same certified 800mpa high tensile steel as the Manson Supreme. The Boss's shank clearance has been streamlined for access into tight pulpits on motorboats.

The Manson Boss is 100% New Zealand made, like all Manson Anchors' range. The anchor's intellectual property is secured by being copyright protected and is patent protected. The Manson Boss will be available in store around April/May 2012. Please visit our website for more details.

2. Bowmaster patented underwater anchor Turning Mechanism
After extensive research and testing, Manson's sister company Bowmaster has developed a new underhull anchor turning mechanism solution. This system was specifically designed in conjunction with Manson Anchors' new Lloyd's Register approved Submarine Anchor. The turning system enables both 90 degree turning (for symmetric baseplate) and 180 degrees turning (for asymmetric baseplate) of the Submarine anchor. Bowmaster began by fabricating a 7m tall test rig to simulate the anchor coming home into the pocket and being turned by the system.

Once the rig was made, numerous 3D designs were trialled as the rig allows each different system to be quickly installed and testing to begin. Systems were soon refined and developed before the final testing was done with 1000 test anchor cycles. No matter the rotating position, the Submarine Anchor is able to be aligned every time for secure and safe stowage.

The system works in all hull materials such as steel, aluminium or GRP. Bowmaster has finally met the increasing demand in the Superyacht market for a compatible all in one anchor package solution.

Bowmaster supplies the full system including anchor pocket, the turning mechanism, hawse and all related spares. The mechanism is also removable so if damage somehow does occur, the device can be easily replaced without the need to dry dock the vessel. All items are made from either SAF2205 or 316 Stainless Steel.

3. Manson Submarine Anchor launch
Manson Anchors have launched their latest Superyacht anchor, the Manson Submarine anchor. The Manson Hiding anchor provided the starting point for development and in conjunction with Bowmaster, various features were added to the anchor to make it even more suited to underhull deployment and increase the holding power. This underhull deployed Submarine Anchor will achieve complete seal and ensure laminar flow of the hull. It also comes with special side plates to lock into the underwater anchor pockets.

Manson Anchors have already customers purchasing the systems and photos will be published in the
next quarterly newsletter.

5. Boat Show 2011 round up and updates for Manson in 2012
In comparison to 2010, Manson Anchors has experienced a positive boat show attendance and outcome. It was also a first time for Manson to exhibit at the Workboat Show in New Orleans, which was the ideal location to introduce our galvanised workboat anchor range to that sector of the marine industry. Manson Anchors will be present at the following boat shows throughout 2012: London, Sanctuary Cove, Sydney, Auckland, Southampton, Monaco, Annapolis Sail, IBEX in Louisville, Fort Lauderdale, METS in Amsterdam, Workboat Show in New Orleans and finally the Paris Boat Show. Manson will be showcasing their anchors on their own stand or as part of one of their distributors' stand. The sales & marketing team will keep you updated on dates and stand location closer to the time of the show. Manson Anchors was also pleased to catch up with all of you last year and wanted to thank you again for taking the time to talk to us and come see us at our stand. The team is already looking forward to seeing you again this year!

6. Manson Olympics

The Manson team wanted to farewell 2011 with a customised Manson Olympics competition. The annual Christmas function started off with a heated 1½ hour karting race, contested in teams of three. This was followed by a challenging list of games carried out at Manson Head Quarters, like shot put with anchor neck, 5-legged race, tug-o-war to mention a few.

The competition was close but the winning team was excited to take a computer and full equipped cricket-chilly bin home as their hard earned prize. Well done Ken and Kirifi!
